Invitations
If you are feeling really enthusiastic and want to make your own invitations, here are some ideas:
You can use a message like "Calling all Rescue Heroes...We have an emergency, and we need your help! (Your child's name) is turning (age) and we want you to come celebrate with us at his/her Rescue Party!
You can create your invitations in the shape of a Fireman Hat, Police Hat, Police Badge, Fire Truck.
Decorations
Draw (or find pictures on internet) of firefighter and police hats and put up on the walls.
Table Cloth, if you get a large roll of news print. You can create your own table cloth. Cut out some templates for fire and police hats or badges. Put the templates on your sheet of news print and then use a sponge dipped in craft paint and blot the paint inside the template. Allow to dry thoroughly before using the table cloth.
Caution Tape
Create a poster to put on the front Door saying "RESCUE Training camp" You can add the New Zealand Police or Fire Logo's to the Poster.
Balloons in the fire and police colours.
Goodie Bags
Red bags or boxes, you an buy at the $2 shop, play handcuffs, police badges, whistles, stickers and some hero snacks.
Food
Fire Truck Cake - you can either hire a cake tin (Sorry we do not have these yet), or design your own. I just search on the internet for Samantha's cake designs.
If you use the Red Boxes as Goodie bags, then you can serve up lunch in these. After the children have finished all their party games, they can each be handed a box (line it with a napkin or two) that contains various party food i.e. a sandwich, sausage roll, mini cupcake, etc. With a fire engine cookie cutter, you could even cut the sandwiches and cookies into the shape of a fire engine.
If you give them stickers they can decorate their party box, so each child knows whose is whose (may be a good idea to write their name on the bottom to prevent confusion). This also means if you have a child that has an allergy, they can be handed a special box containing their food.
At the end of the party empty the boxes and put the parties goodies in the box to take home.
Party Games
Pin the Badge on the Rescue Hero
Musical Buckets - instead of chairs use upturned buckets.
Rescue Hero's Training Course. - This involves having various activities for the kids to perform.
